On June 23rd, 2020 I will be officially divorced. Yay! Well, don’t get me wrong, I wish things would be different, but they aren’t. Life does not always work the way we envisioned it and divorce happens. My ex-wife and I are separated since April. We lived together in the same house until then, in different rooms of course, but we were still around each other. We were able to go through this divorce in a civilized manner and we are able to talk and see each other without getting on each other’s throat. We’re two and a half weeks into our new daily life, and we have become a pretty good team. Routines are forming; bonds are being built. There is only one routine that is not yet established. I am a runner, and that is the only thing I am falling short right now. Usually, I get up at 3.25 AM on weekday mornings and go for a run. So far, I have gotten a total of 3 runs done. A little over week ago we drove up to LAX to drop off my ex-wife at the airport. The drive ws surreal a) due to the Covid-19 lockdown situation and b) due to my ex-wife leaving for good. We were together for 27 years, and so this is new territory for all of us. And almost with just the blink of the eye, she is gone. The last few days were extremely stressful, and I kept my composure until the last moment to not have the stress make a difficult situation go bad. My still wife, soon to be ex-wife, is now gone.
